About Me

Hi and welcome to Art by Beka.B, I’m Beka  Burbery and I love making artwork that reflects the beauty of the natural world. I like to think of my art as a celebration of life. My paintings tend towards vivid watercolour backgrounds with energetic brushstrokes, in contrast to the main subject matter which is painted in acrylic with intricate, fine lines. My illustrations are hand drawn and are an insight into the wonderful world of imagination. 

My journey to becoming an artist began as a child and was developed further with my studies at The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art. I achieved Diplomas levels 5 and 6 between the years 2016-2018. After taking some time off to travel and focus on my other passion, rock climbing, I came back to my art studies in 2022. Graduating in 2024, after completing the final year - Diploma of Art and Creativity Advanced Level 7.

Nestled in the serene beauty of rural Queensberry, Central Otago, I find endless inspiration from my environment. Having planted out much of our section in natives, I have an endearment for the native flora and fauna which can be seen mirrored in my work. With my menagerie of quirky farm animals(alpacas, angora goats and chickens) and my two loyal canine companions always close by, my art reflects the joy I find in all of earths creatures. Through making art, I hope to captivate and inspire, reminding us of the magic that surrounds us every day.
